Therapy retreats in San Francisco

Therapy retreats can be a good option if you:

  1. Have an established relationship with me and are looking to go deeper in a more focused way

  2. Would benefit from getting out of your usual routine and environment, away from distractions and obligations

  3. Have clear treatment goals in mind

  4. Have a significant trauma history

  5. Have scheduling restraints that make it difficult to attend consistent weekly therapy or brief intensives

Or if you simply have a preference for this type of experience.

What does a therapy retreat look like?

During an initial intake session, we will first spend anywhere between 45-90 minutes talking through the main “headlines” of your life as it relates to therapy (e.g., family history, current relationships, current stressors, significant traumas, medical concerns, etc.). I will use this information to start mapping out a plan for your custom therapy retreat.

Therapy retreats share similarities to therapy intensives. The main differences being that a retreat will take place in a tranquil, retreat-like setting away from your everyday life, may be in an individual or group format, and include a range of other therapeutic activities including:

  1. Massage/body work

  2. Reiki/energy/breath work

  3. Nourishing meals

  4. Equine therapy

  5. Yoga therapy

  6. Nature immersion (hiking, surfing, etc.)

…and more.

The actual therapy sessions will be scheduled ahead of time and woven into the overall experience. Therapy sessions may, for example, follow a daily schedule of:

  1. Two to three hours of therapy

  2. One to three hour break/activity

  3. Free time/integration

Retreats can typically be designed for anywhere between 2 to 5 consecutive days.
